The about section is always incredibly tricky, but I'll try my best.
I'm Jake; I'm a photographer based in Christchurch, New Zealand. While photography has been an all-consuming passion since I was a child, journalism - and by association, travel - holds a place of equal importance in my heart, too. I picked up a camera and began photographing things around me when I was twelve or so, and the interest has grown exponentially since then. Whilst at secondary school, I opened my own exhibition in Christchurch that consisted of a series of images I documented while visiting New York. It was NYC's diversity, architecture, colour and nauseating pace that cemented photography a permanent spot in my life.
It's a guilty luxury to love what you do for a living, so I pursue a pretty simple approach to my work: fun. I strive to create contemporary, bright and thrilling images that capture the true essence whatever I'm photographing. With multiple years of experience in the hospitality industry, I offer a unique insider's knowledge into the marketing and documentation of food, drink and a venue's atmosphere.
I hope you find as much joy in my work as I get out of creating it.
